Courage, ain't it the truth.

It takes a lot of courage to be publicly religious, because you are privately regarded as a simpleton, or nice but naive, sort of like the sweet but homely wallflower that would make a good wife if the right man would just get to know her.

I'm not talking about proselytizing, just having no more shame talking about Jesus than what you had for breakfast.

Anyone that adheres to a belief in unseen things has chutzpah, even if they are wrong.

I think I know why old things, especially old songs, still resonate so deeply - they remind us of a time when we thought we could change the world.

When you realize you can't really change much outside yourself, you feel like the guys staring back at you at the end of 1930's anti-war classic, All Quiet on the Western Front.
