This is as strong a thread as the innocuous snares strung by Captain Kangaroo or Mister Rogers.
1969's Midnight Cowboy with Jon Voight and Dustin Hoffman won three Oscars, twenty-six other honors, and sits at #43 on the AFI’s Top 100, but if you were around at the time (I was listening with 6-year-old ears), grownups were talking about the X rating. And if you've watched it recently, you may have scratched your head at how it even earned an R.
Times change. It’s a great film with an equally great theme by John Barry. Barry won a Grammy for it, and I've embedded it here[1]:

Both Midnight Cowboy and the Sesame Street theme use a harmonica, which might have given this piece more of a childhood feel for me.
