This strikes me as the sort of comment one tosses out because "I heard someone smart say it about some ancient bible guy who was sorta kinda like Moses so I think I'll use it too and sound smart like him."
It's rather puzzling why an actor portraying a personality of mythical proportions would try to reduce him to mortal size before the movie is even in theaters. Movie goers like their heroes imposing and principled (even if fatally flawed).
Consider for a moment that Moses is the result of real events, an oral tradition, a lot of redaction, that the bible isn't a biography, and Bale isn't a Near East scholar.
What's left?
A movie, and an actor with an opinion.
