The injustice of martyrdom through pity.

The greatest injury to one's pride is being pitied out of ignorance and unable to respond sufficiently. It's a martyrdom of sorts, but with no one around to wag their heads or tsk-tsk at the injustice.

The greatest injury to tolerance is insistence on trivialities; and it's not the extremes that feel it most, but those in the middle who are trying to get both sides to see reason (or at least past their noses).

It's not that hard. So why are some of us inclined to see both sides and others not?

I'm fully convinced that either extreme on any issue would silence all dissent if they could.

Chris Christie
Hillary: You mean, if I just press this button, my critics will just shut up?
God: Yep.
Hillary:Well, then, I'm gonna press it now.
God: Just remember, Chris Christie has a button, too.
Hillary: Oh?
God: Yep. If he presses it, it will shut you up.
Hillary: Oh?
God: Yep. But he said no thanks, you were doing just fine on your own.
