May the good news be yours.

Overheard on the same day, Monday April 22, 2013...

1
NBC today show, 1st hour:

"Reese Witherspoon has been known as America's sweetheart."

Excuse me, "America's Sweetheart" is reserved for girls like Annette Funicello and Sally Field. Don't turn a famous ranting drunk into more than a famous ranting drunk because being famous and ranting and drunk alone isn't interesting enough.

2
Grand Rapids Channel 8 morning news segment between 7-7:30am:

"The good news is the Grand River has crested."

The bad news is that it crested above the riverbank. That's like saying "Well, we know your house is 5 feet under water, but it could be 10 feet."

May the good news be yours.

Mr President, you must think we're all idiots.

c0 Screenshot of MNSBC.com on June 7, 2013"President Obama defends secret surveillance programs, assures American public all safeguards being properly observed" Story > Then see "Edward Snowden: the whistleblower behind the NSA surveillance revelations" here >

As much as I like him personally and feel he's doing better than the last guy, Obama's assurance sounds like a former president who asked if we shared his definition of "is."

I can only assume he thinks were are enormously gullible, or that he can get away with this pat on the head long enough to ride out the remainder of his term.

I'm sure governments spy on their people whether they have legal protection or not. But when we have legal protection, we still have a system by which it can be addressed and curtailed.

Take that away and we have a police state parading as a democracy.

Everyone likes a parade.
