Get off your knees and get to work.

c0 Detail of "Sloth" from a bas relief carving. It dates back to about 1300AD and currently resides at Parish Church of St. Peter, Lynchmere, West Sussex, England.Just heard a folk song [2013-02-24] on progressive radio WPRR (which I like) with the lyrics "get off your knees and get to work." The singer was telling religious politicians to pay more attention to their jobs and less to God.

c0 Full bas relief of the 7 deadly sins. It dates back to about 1300AD and currently resides at Parish Church of St. Peter, Lynchmere, West Sussex, England.

What this song and atheists (with few exceptions) overlook is that we all choose some method of introspection. Some meditate, some jog, some write or make music or paint. Religious people may do those things too, but they also pray. That is, they talk to God, and they believe he hears them.

c0 Archimedes in the tub shouting Eureka! upon discovering the principle of water displacement. There are psychological and practical benefits to meditation, which can also take the form of intense inspection and momentous discovery

When my religious conviction imposes changes on you, you have a right to be upset, but until then, I am free (and so is any politician) to reference his/her meditative preferences in public.

Which only goes to show that myopia and intolerance are equally prevalent in atheistic talk, though they are more insidious, because they're collectively denied by those afflicted.
