"Nice day, eh, Sam?" "Yup, good to be alive, Ralph."

Story Idea: ThumbleCorp

c0 Sam Sheepdog & Ralph WolfThe year is 3013 and Aloysius is the janitor at ThumbleCorp.

Thumbles are an essential component of every toilet in the world, and ThumbleCorp is the only company that makes them.

And that makes ThumbleCorp very rich, because, as you might expect, there are a very great many toilets in 3013.

Aloysius proudly wears a blue utility shirt with his name embroidered over the right breast pocket. His left breast pocket holds a plastic pocket protector with small pliers, a screwdriver, and a penlight for illuminating small spaces.

Today Aloysius is leaving the office and runs into Mr Thumble. Mr Thumble is the CEO of ThumbleCorp.

Mr Thumble proudly wears a blue utility shirt with his name embroidered over the right breast pocket. His left breast pocket holds a plastic pocket protector with a sonic antigravity pen, auxiliary heart and lung, and a pair of bifocals.

Aloysius is carrying out the trash. Mr Thumble says, "Hello, Aloysius, let me help you with that." Aloysius says "Thank you, Mr Thumble, may I hold your briefcase?"

And together they walk out of ThumbleCorp's headquarters, each to his own parking space, each to a car that gets good hydrogen mileage, and goes fast enough, and levitates high enough, and lasts long enough to make each appreciate a new car when he can afford one.

Mr Thumble empties the trash into a bin in the parking lot and hands the empty trash can to Aloysius, who returns Mr Thumble's briefcase.

"Nice day, eh, Aloysius?"

"Yup, good to be alive, Mr Thumble."

And they each go home.

"Take their money and kick their ass out."

c0 line drawing showing the sole of a bootThat's a quote from my first boss out of college. I managed a gourmet meat and cheese shop in Woodland Mall at the time. The store went out of business after its first Christmas.

I won't tell you his name or the store's name. The franchise is no longer in business, but there is still a company using the same name, and there's no reason to risk confusion.
