What surprises me about the whole Miley Cyrus flap is…

… not her lewd dance, but that everyone is shocked by it.

What did we expect?

We are all navigating tempests in teapots.

It’s just that our teapots are different sizes, and some storms are rolling in while others have past over.

This occurred to me as I was finishing up my piece on Krispy Kreme after learning about a friend who was in what could have been a terrible car accident. Fortunately, she limped away with cuts and bruises, but had the other car been a foot ahead of where it was when the driver pulled out, the story might have been tragically different.

Yet my Krispy Kreme experience was as blustery to me as any momentary frustration and deserved a home here, even if, in retrospect, it pales in comparison to the misfortunes of others.

And that is something that deserves frequently reflection.
