Extremism in the pursuit of hyperbole is a vice.

The cover of a Crusader 'Christian' comic book featuring a
Jesuit priest. This series of comic books was popular
among evangelicals in the 70s. We had a few in our
house that as I recall came from a Bethel Christian School
book sale when it was on 727 E 26th in Erie, PA.
We enjoyed the "Rapture" stories more than anything else.
Don't trust all the understanding you get from those who make a practice of expressing everything in extremes.

Eg,
The weather ("near record blistering temps")
Sports ("I haven't seen anything like that since Pedro Linguini sunk a tweetie at the Widget Open in 1962!!!")
Politics ("This is juicy stuff people" - that's a real quote from Melissa Harris-Perry).
Religion ("Catholics are going to hell!" - just Google it and see what you get)

We've lost the ability to patiently digest ordered information and are befuddled by a systematic approach to anything more complicated than ordering a Happy Meal.

I think it was Thomas Jefferson who believed ordinary people were incapable of making wise decisions and needed a government to do that for them. I sometimes think he was right.
