c0 Clarence talks to George after he pulls him out of the water. George is suddenly able to hear with an ear that's been deaf since a childhood accident. George says to Clarence, "Say something else in that ear." Clarence replies, "Sure. You can hear out of it."Say something else in that ear.

"You can make an awful lot of money looking like everyone else. Just ask everyone imitating Apple.

You can make even more money being yourself. Just ask Apple.

You also fall harder and faster alone, but at least you are yourself.[1

Just ask Apple? Not today, but eventually.

One of my favorites quotes:

"For over a thousand years Roman conquerors returning from the wars enjoyed the honor of triumph, a tumultuous parade. In the procession came trumpeters, musicians and strange animals from conquered territories, together with carts laden with treasure and captured armaments. The conquerors rode in a triumphal chariot, the dazed prisoners walking in chains before him. Sometimes his children robed in white stood with him in the chariot or rode the trace horses. A slave stood behind the conqueror holding a golden crown and whispering in his ear a warning: that all glory is fleeting."
- Gen. George C. Patton

Patton End Titles (1970)

Patton was one of Dad's favorite movies. I bought it for him on VHS as a Christmas gift and he watched it over and over.

  1. It's amazing how audio information can be so deeply ingrained. I've not seen or heard the Lucky Charms add in decades - but it was more than merely familiar - it actually triggered something. The Patton piece was the same way - except it elicits very different emotions (obviously!)

  2. Sounds can be as enduring as scents; I wonder how music became wired into us. Nothing elevates in quite the same way.
