c0 Detail from Mrs Doubtfire marketing materialsEg,

1
The #1 box office draw on opening weekend in November 24, 1993 was the family film Mrs Doubtfire. The title song "Dude (Looks Like A Lady)" by Aerosmith was about sex with a transvestite. (There are variations on the meaning and origin of the song, but that's pretty close.)

c0 David Hyde Pierce3
David Hyde Pierce is gay, but each week we watched him tremble and fumble through unrequited love for Daphne on Frasier.

4

And there are others. Lots of them, which include (in my opinion), Halloween, the Easter Bunny, Santa Claus, and other magical deceptions of childhood.

We often enjoy things despite their affinities, not because of them, and with no lingering harm at all.
