You really have to be arrogant to force neighbors to tear down their home.

What depth of self-importance grips a community when they feel justified in forcing neighbors to tear down their home because they don’t like how it looks?

"Neighbors want architect's dream home torn down" >

This is a not a dump, mind you, or a brothel or a gaudy gated mansion. It's an upscale home based on classic plans by Frank Lloyd Wright, but it's situated among homes from an earlier era, and it sticks out.

Neighbors in the story apparently fear this will open the door to others building expensive nonconformities.

Horrors.

Isn't it interesting that one's taste in architecture can marginalize us as easily as our color, language, religion, education, or genitalia.

We need very little incentive to feel superior.
