Installing Linux? Checkout this outstanding step-by-step. (Plus another thought on torture.)

One file, about everything you need:

I put a dual boot of Ubuntu 14.1 on a free internal hard drive and was up and running in minutes. Just picked a swap file on same drive, set swap file the same size as my RAM. and chose "/" as the mount point.

One more thought on torture.

I've commented a couple times on the Senate panel torture report and the response from Dick Cheney.

There is a core defect that persists throughout all of this: Rarely do elected leaders take ownership for mistakes, unless they're sexually compromising, and even then, there is a perception that "what goes on behind closed doors in the Oval Office is none of our business."

We do often hear our elected leaders say "I take full responsibility," but rarely "I made a mistake and I take full responsibility"; ie, the mea culpa is usually for the actions of others, not themselves, and hence they appear strong and protective of well-meaning, if overly exuberant, operatives.

Sen John McCain said it best, it's not about them, it's about us.

There will be more attacks, and when we think we can be stunned no more, we will be[1], but torture will still be wrong.
