A Party of One

c0 0ddbody Nation Campaign PosterIf I could create my own political party, it would take the positions listed below.[1] These are the primary issues of 2012 that a number of websites ranked the candidates on.

The 0ddbody Party would defend life at all stages, in any country, and of any socio-economic level and ethnicity. It would oppose preemptive war, capital punishment, abortion, and euthanasia.

It would grant all consenting adults the legal right to pair-bond in whatever formal capacity they choose and would grant them benefits generally reserved for traditional pair-bonding.

And it would defend all religious organizations from laws that force them to support or fund practices that violate their conscience.

More particularly:

1. Same-sex domestic partnership benefits
Support

2. Teacher-led prayer in public schools
Oppose

3. Death Penalty

4. Mandatory "Three Strikes" Sentencing Laws

Of course, this is just another way of saying this is how Clarence stands on the issues in 2012, and it will likely evolve, as all of us should as we encounter new ideas.

Michigan requires you to show a picture ID to vote, or, if that's not possible, sign an affidavit that you are who you say you are. It's called a "Michigan Application to Vote" and looks like this:

If you read this blog last year,
you know I voted straight ticket. This is what the front of a Grand Rapids, MI ballot looks like:

I was ballot #100 in the Presidential Election in 2012 in my precinct. You're not supposed to take cameras into the polling station or take pictures. I didn't know that.

  1. What about the very important (but less understood) 'Mandatory Free Cupcakes for Everybody' position? We who crave the tasty wholesome goodness of cupcakse are outraged at the non-mandatoryness of these delicious treats! Imagine (if you can) all the evil doers in the world, provided with a free cupcake of his or her choice. Our hearts melt when we contemplate the scene - And so will theirs! For no one can do evil to his (or her) fellow man with a cupcake in his (or her) hand! (We await your ammendment.)

  2. Ah, yes, the Cupcake Plank, an important part of any progressive platform. Anything that keeps donuts out of the hands of the bad guys.
