No Bake Fruit Cake

c0 vintage picture of mom baking in the kitchenThis is a recipe for No Bake Fruit Cake from our friend Christine Sikora. It's very good. It doesn't have the bready consistency of traditional fruit cake but it's packed with flavor and texture. I imagine a touch of brandy might lend a festive note :-)

1 lb pecans
1 lb walnuts

This show aired about 10 days before Christmas 1947; some of the jokes are flat and the timing is a bit off. They probably were preparing more for the following week's Christmas show in which the King's Men and recurring character Sis sing 'Twas the Night Before Christmas, which became a perennial favorite.

  1. Fibber McGee and Molly--one of my favorites. Did you know that Marian Jordan (Molly) is the voice of Teeny? I think Fibber often calls her 'sis' when she comes knocking at their door.

  2. I didn't know that! For those reading this, that means Molly and Teeny/Sis were played by the same person. I did read something that said Molly and Teeny only occasionally appeared together, now that makes sense. It will be hard to listen to the shows in quite the same way now.
